Since 1816 the entire parish of Sordevolo has been performing the stage play of the Passion of Christ. It is the largest choral piece ever performed in Italy by lay actors. It takes place in an open space of 4,000 square meters and is a re-creation of Jerusalem from the year 33 AD with Herod's Palace, Synedrium,Pontius Pilatus Praetoritum, Garden Gethsemane, Cenacle and Calvary.
The three-hour performance consists of a prologue and 29 scenes with a total participation of about 400 actors.

Arrival at your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Trip to Lake Orta. Above Orta there is a hill called "Sacro Monte d'Orta" which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sacri Monti. Its 20 chapels are all devoted to Saint Francis of Assisi. From the port you go by ship to the small island of San Giulio.
In the afternoon your journey continues to Varallo. The Sacro Monte di Varallo is one of the oldest of its kind. Admire the Basilica with its numerous chapels.
In the evening you return to the hotel and have dinner.
Visit of Oropa. The place of pilgrimage is situated in the middle of a magnificent mountain scenery. It is considered to be the most important Marian cult site in the Alps. Arrived in Biella, our guide will show you the cathedral and the Baptistery. The cable car then takes you up the hill to the medieval district of Piazzo.
Continue to Sordevolo. Before the Passion Plays start in the evening you can enjoy a dinner in a local restaurant. After the performance you make your way back home to the hotel.
After breakfast, it will be time to say "Arrivederci" to this region.
